Community Standards

Celebrating Our Community. Respecting Our Community.

Tacoma Beer Week brings together the people, businesses, and organizations that make our local food-and-beverage community special.

We believe great experiences should bring people together, celebrate creativity, support local businesses, and foster meaningful connections.

Our Community Standards help us create welcoming, respectful, and inclusive experiences during our annual celebration and throughout the year.

Our Shared Expectations

Respect and Inclusion

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, threats, and abusive behavior have no place at Tacoma Beer Week events or activities.

We welcome people of different backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences.

Safety and Responsibility

Participating businesses and event organizers are responsible for maintaining safe environments, following applicable laws and licensing requirements, and responding appropriately to concerns at their events.

Hosts should clearly communicate relevant age restrictions, accessibility information, and other details that help attendees make informed decisions.

Accountability

We recognize that individuals and businesses can make mistakes, experience conflict, or face criticism.

We value accountability, constructive communication, and meaningful efforts to address harm.

Participation in Tacoma Beer Week does not require a perfect history or agreement on every personal or political belief. It does require a commitment to treating people respectfully and upholding these Community Standards.

Community Responsibility

Tacoma Beer Week exists to strengthen relationships among local businesses, hospitality workers, and the communities they serve.

We encourage participants to approach these relationships with fairness, professionalism, and respect.

Who These Standards Apply To

These standards apply to participating businesses, organizations, event hosts, and community partners involved in Tacoma Beer Week activities, including our annual celebration and events or initiatives organized or supported throughout the year.

Conduct outside Tacoma Beer Week activities may also be considered when it raises credible, substantial concerns about safety, discrimination, harassment, or a participant's ability to uphold these standards.

Participation and Accountability

Tacoma Beer Week may review, decline, suspend, or remove participation when credible concerns arise about conduct inconsistent with our Community Standards.

We approach these decisions thoughtfully, considering the available information, the seriousness and relevance of the concern, and any meaningful efforts to address it.

Whenever reasonably possible, participants will have an opportunity to respond before a decision is made.

Exclusion from Tacoma Beer Week does not necessarily mean permanent exclusion. Future participation may be reconsidered on a case-by-case basis.

Our goal is not to resolve every community disagreement, but to uphold the standards that allow people to participate safely and respectfully.

Reporting a Concern

We welcome concerns from anyone in our community, including attendees, hospitality workers, participating businesses, and members of the public.

If you have a concern about conduct that may conflict with these standards, please contact info@tacomabeerweek.com.

Please include relevant details and any supporting information you're comfortable sharing.

Our volunteer committee will review concerns based on the information available. Submitting a concern does not automatically result in an investigation, exclusion, or removal.

We handle reports with discretion and respect for everyone involved, although we cannot guarantee complete confidentiality.

Our Role

Tacoma Beer Week is organized by a volunteer committee. Individual events are planned, managed, and operated by their respective hosts.

While we establish participation standards and review concerns brought to our attention, Tacoma Beer Week does not directly manage or supervise every participating event.

We appreciate everyone who helps make our community a welcoming place to gather, discover, and celebrate.
